This is a day horn I just finished, using the horn tip as the tip plug.

So you can compare it to a larger horn I did

nicely done...I had mine gifted to me and haven't altered it in anyway since...but then, with a cane, rain and old age I'm not shooting that much. It stores and totes my 3F SWISS I use in my 50 GPR for main charge and pan... I dispensed with the plunger type 4F pan charger I had

I hear that, Doc - lately, I in just about the same boat ;banghead; .
BTW - those plunger-type FFFFg (4f) pan primers can be used with FFFg (3F) by disassembling the plunger and drilling the hole in the slider a tad larger.
That's what I did with the one I built last week.

I like the K.I.S.S. method of using the same powder granulation for both the main charge and the prime.

OR, you can just prime from the horn and dispense with the dispenser!

Yeah but it takes away some of the ambiance from the rocklock experience..... ;)
Besides, gadgets are good..... :toast

I just try to be erudite! :laffing

Erudite or not, that is EXACTLY what I meant by dispensing with the pan primer...
OH, and I don't believe mine is a plunger but you push it in to release a measured amount of 4F... Haven't even tried it since I got the horn and using 3F... guess you know who put that thought in my brain pan!
If'n them who went to WAR with a flinter only had the horn then I guess I don't need no extra foolery to fuss with...
Hell, I'd be happy to walk without a bloody cane! :lol sign

I had one of those dispenser things once, when I was in Ketchikan. With 165 inches of rain a year, things were a tad humid and the FFFFg turned into concrete in it. I eventually went to using a squeeze bottle for nose drops which worked very well. Then I started just priming from the horn when I shot FFFg and that worked just fine. Recently I tried it with FFG and can't tell the difference between it and 4F for reliability and speed so will most likely keep doing what I'm doing with one less thing to carry.
