Dat's me!!
And that is another damn flintlock I temporarily owned. It was one of them surpriser guns. It surprised the heck out of you if it ever went off. But it sure was pretty, a beautiful piece of wood, and nicely inlet as well.
I guess that photo is about 40+ years old.I still wear those buckskins and most everything else I have there, except the shooting bag and the beaver cap.
When you said you were going through some photo albums, does that mean the long missing albums have finally showed up? Sure hope so.

Neat picture guys. Why don't you wear the bag and beaver skin hat anymore John? I really miss Ohio Joe's pictures. So don't be afraid to share any others you may have.

Yes the missing albums have surfaced, not sure who had them but I have them now. At least temporarily.
No powder, when I get home from work I'll post another newspaper pic of Mr bigsmoke where he's referred to as a "flintlock expert" I believe the quote was. :luff:
Off to rendezvous tonight :applaud

Looking forward to that. Thanks, be safe and have fun. And oh yea, shoot straight and keep yur powder dry.

Tom, The reason I don't use that shooting bag any more is that I don't have it anymore. Like a dummy, I sold the rifle it went with and the bag went with it. The hat, well, I think it is buried somewhere in a cedar chest and hasn't seen the light of day for many moons.
Kevin, words cannot express how happy I am that the albums have finally been found. There is a bunch of history included in them. I have an idea where they were and who had them, but all is good now.
Flintlock expert? Yeah, right, don't believe everything you read.

Flintlock purist my ar$e.
That reminds me of the scene in Quigly Down Under where he gets into a pistol duel with the owner of the ranch and shoots the guy. In amazement, the guy says something like, "I didn't think you could use a pistol." To which Quigly replies, "I said I didn't like pistols, but I never said anything about not being able to use them!"
Same thing with me. I just don't like them, they are a pain in the butt and I don't see where they are worth the trouble. But that's just my personal view, and for sure, YMMV. Over the years I have tried to like them, I have invested in some really nice ones and one time I even went to the extent of selling all my percussion guns. It didn't work, I always came back to cap guns. And this last time, I liked the rifle so I converted it to a percussion gun. Now it's just right.
