This is a Richard Miller .50 cal that I stumbled upon on Gun Broker a few months ago. The seller wasn t asking much more for it than most guys are pricing their finished Kibler kits at.

That's drop dead gorgeous. Do you use it or is it a gun for only display purposes?

I purchased this guy with every intention of shooting it. I took it out to a club shoot a couple months ago with the assumption that it was at least roughly sighted in—nope! I believe windage to be right on, but I appeared to be consistently low. The issue with filing down the front sight is that it also has that acid-etched finish, and it’s unlikely that I’ll be able to match the original finish after making alterations. Then again, what’s the point of having a rifle that you can’t (accurately) shoot?

How about the rear sight? Can you drift it out and install a higher one, saving the original for if you ever decide to return it to the state you bought it in?

Thats s a good idea! I should be able to drift the rear sight out and replace it with a higher one without any permanent modifications. Keeping the original sight for potential restoration down the road is definitely the way to go. Thanks for the suggestion; Ill look into getting a higher rear sight that fits.

You are quite welcome. But now I've used up my quota of good ideas for the month.... :luff:
