Title: Cracked stock

I have a NSW Early English.w/walnut stock.
I have a crack in the forstock which starts about midway between ramrod entry and the mid thimble on the left side and runs forward about 9" and across to the right sde where it frades out.
What type of glue should I use on this?
Is there something I can get localy?
I thought about Titebond II or 24 hour epoxy but not sure on these.

I havent done stock repairs with it, but I would use locktite 420.I have used it on recurve bows with great results.Its best to use a hyperdermic needle to get it where you want it though.The good thing is the stuff runs like water.The bad thing is its about $22 an ounce and you usually have to order it.You cannot "fill" with it and have to have a way of squeezing together yer crack before applying,so yer ready when you do apply.It dries fast and is very,very strong stuff.Some of the exp. builders here may have better solutions though.Good luck.ridjrunr

Hi Steve.
 I haven't Taken the barrel out as of yet. But yes it runs through the rod channel so I'm sure it is in the barrel channel. I can see the crack has followed the grain across  to the other side.The right side is not cracked all the way though [just a bit hold it together] so if I'm not very careful taking the barrel out I'll end up with 2 peaces.

I use Loctite also for this type of repair ,just a word of warning gloves must be worn if not it will bond skin instantly and result in a hospital job.

Sounds like its a bit much for the loctite and I would  do as Wyosmith has suggested.But for smaller jobs in the future  if ya need it, any hardware store or tool supply house that sells loctite products should be able to get it for you by ordering.ridjrunr

Well got the thing fixed.
Worked pretty well, a little touch and go getting the barrel out but I got it.
The only problem was half of the bedding came out of the channel it didn't stick to the wood. I may have needed to prep the wood a bit. New gun so there shouldn't have been any oil on it.
But the crack seems to be very strong.
