Thanks folks.

My name is David Shook for those that don't know.  I live in Waxahachie, TX and hope that I can get to meet most if not all of the TMA Texas members at one time or another.  This place is so dang big though I may never get to all of it.  But I'll try.

I'll get some links and info posted for the various bp hunting laws and some of the many groups and clubs we have here in our great state.  If ya know any or if I miss some, PLEASE post them here or let me know so that I can.

Again, thanks for the support and I will do my best to represent the TMA and make ya all proud.

Dave,
I live near Big Spring. I get to Ft Worth area once in a while.

There are a couple of BP clubs around here. My schedule prevents my participation. I do want to do the "postal" shoot.

Roaring Bull, not very populated out here in Far West Texas so hard to organize any regular shoots. I have the use of 50 sq. miles of ranch land  20 miles N.W. of sireara Blanca Tx. If you think it possible to organize a rondy/shoot/ camp out of the Texas members shoot me a P.M. I did meet another TmA member at the Trappers convention in Ft.Stockton a coupleof years ago?
Bison Horn I think hes not fa from you? I,ve been pretty much under the weather the last 5 years or so, but things look some better now . :USA

Thanks All! ridjrunr thanks, I will have to get back with ya. Bison Horn I'm about 15min from Lampasas, sounds like the SWRR in Lampasass next Spring is on. So what is SWRR? / Is there a list of things out there I need to start working on? Cloths, Hat and so on? I have a canvas pole tent I used in Alaska, but no poles. Where do you get your supplies? and do most of you try and dress to the period? or is it Blue Jeans, shirt and hat? also, for Lampasas in the spring, I bet I could get quite a few Soldiers to jump on that one.

Well gentlemen, we have been given the OK to use the grounds the first weekend of December! All are invited. I am thinking that we keep it kinda informal but still pre-1840. If you know some folks that want to come and see what rendezvousing is about, invite them. I am going to invite the folks from our FCF ministry to come out too. We can have an archery shoot, black powder, hawk and knife. Or we can just sit around and relax before the Christmas season starts driving us all bonkers!

I will try to get some type of flyer together with directions and whatnot in the next few days.

Sound off it ya can make it...

ok guys I have a question for you Tejas Brothers.

Its supposed to be REALLY cold this coming weekend...do we wanna postpone this little shindig for a week and see how the weather works out?

My weather app shows "Feel Like" lows in the single digits for Saturday evening. and highs in the 20's. Now I know you folks from way up North are probably accustomed to such temperatures, but I generally try and stay indoors.

But if you guys wanna do it, we can.

I have found a close by range near Pearland TX for all kinds of shootin' n' noise makin'. At least it is open and accepting of new members not like some other clubs in the area.  I expect the overall move to be a done deal after my house in the Vampire State gets sold. Our youngest son came home from college for a visit this weekend.  I didn't get to camp, but I did walk in and visit a voo for a while Saturday morning.  There were maybe 10 camps?  Much smaller than in the past.

I have noticed a direct correlation; the clubs that don't advertise their events are getting smaller and smaller.  I'm not sure if the lack of advertisement is just an oversight or a deliberate action to maintain a small group.

I do attend a few " by invitation only" rendezvous.  These events are held on private property and the property owner limits liability risks by inviting only people they know won't use the legal system to steal.  However, these events usually have 30 or more camps because there is communication to let folks know when the event will be held.

My point is: If you want to keep your event alive you have to bring in new members.
If you are neglecting to advertise your events the perceived message is "you ain't welcome". If that isn't the intended message then you need to get your fliers distributed early and often.  Communication with other clubs and events in your area doesn't hurt either.

"If you are neglecting to advertise your events the perceived message is "you ain't welcome"".............

It don't get no plainer than this.
I hope the TMA can be of some help in getting this accomplished for our many small groups.
The use of your own forum right here can be a lot of help, but there's just nothing that beats the old hand-out Flyer, especially when it's handed from person to person, that's what it takes to make a guy feel really welcome.

Steve, PD, and all you guys in that "Texas Group", we are all just downright proud of the whole bunch of ya!

The 2016 TAB Deep Winter Rendezvous is coming up quickly.
Deep Winter will be held January 29th, 30th & 31st, 2016 near Maysfield, Texas (between Hearne & Cameron). This is the same property where we had the 2014 Deep Winter Rendezvous. There is some deadfall wood available on site. Bring your own water.

I plan to set up on Thursday as well.

The weather forecast looks like some rain during the weekend but nothing that will freeze or ice over.

After the shoot this Sunday, we could use some help loading and hauling the firewood we cut and split from down range up to the camp.

Comanche Peak Muzzleloaders are hosting a Spring rendezvous April 8-10, 2016. Looks like its a new venue, as they have lost the lease to the site they had for like 20+ years.

Allen, dangnabit!

Dont'cha make me come down there!
You had me pretty seriously worried there for a bit.

Of course, I had no idea on earth what you may have encountered. But....when I read that from one of our very best members, to say I was concerned would be a understatement.
I wasn't just concerned, I was downright worried.

Hope ya got everything on the right track now. Iff'n ya think ya might need a little help, all of us would be more'n glad to do what we can to help ya..

Bull, you made a great point about how spread out this place is. Wouldn’t it be great if everybody included some location info. If not a specific town or county something like “piney woods, metroplex or hill country”.

FYI the TMLRA has a group on FB and shoots in March, June and October located in Brady, TX.

Yeah but I've been banned from the TMA, so I can't comment. But I am in Waxahachie.

Bull, if you've been "BANNED" from the TMA, why on earth did you create a fictitious name, come back, and start posting?
What's up with that?
