The flint lock is obvious.
Any more known details?
Looks like a great place to start.  Nice piece of wood.

Thank you sir !!   Tip told me it was nice wood, so I took his word for it, and plenty happy I did.
Sure wish he knew how to use a computer a little better .

Thanks Poet, very happy to see that ya'll like it as well. You see lots of flinters with the stripes from head to toe, but this one's kinda cool cause it's got stripes in the forend, and burl in the butt.

This was a little 4 bore double rifle

(http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii161/bigsmoke72/4BORE001.jpg) (http://http)

And from the business end, a .530 ball for comparison

Smaller guns to come later

John

Not if I use a .980 ball in it.  Then one of those round cleaning patches works pretty good.

No, this is not a Tip gun.

Gorgeous wood on that .45!
I wish my budget would support my lust for beautifully stocked muzzleloaders.
Can't complain, though. Have some really nice ones.

Larry,
Look down a few topics in this Flintlocks forum and you will see my thread on the Neil Fields rifle.
I have an Ohio style, part Vincent style caplock with beatiful burl walnut that I will post when I have a chance.
Cheers,
Ron
