Title: New (to me) Pedersoli Howdah
Post by: Steven Goselin on October 23, 2015, 11:55:09 AM
I just bought this used. Pedersoli Howdah pistol, 20 gauge. All guns are fun to shoot, but this one is REALLY fun. What a hoot! I have had it at the range twice now. At 35 feet I can keep my shots within about 7 - 8". I load 50 grains of 3F with a .010 patched .610 round ball. I confess that I did load up with 100 grains once. I just could not resist. Wow, big bang indeed. Now to try some various shot or buck and ball loads.

I picked one up just before bear season to use as a sidearm, but have not been able to fire mine yet. Mine is not the Pedersoli, but the one sold my Middlesex Trading Co. It has some weird-sized nipples, which I am thinking I will file down to fit a #11 cap...

Goose, could you share the barrel length on your Howdah?  I have a piece of 20ga octagon I'm considering making into a single barrel duck stomper, Ha! George.

Have you taken this out yet?
I've been eyeing one of those myself considering the lack of decently priced used Howdahs.

Try some trap shooting for a real hoot!  I have a single barrel 20 ga. and we tried it at my club.  3 of us actually managed to hit a bird!!!

I have not. Mainly due to the weird nipples...

Riley,
Could you show or explain what you mean by weird. Nipples seems one problem
not that difficult to resolve. Having said that I have not seen your type gun up close. :shake [/color]

Are they for musket caps?
