No powder getting a head start? I'm waiting for the snow to melt!

These early shooting months and later in the year shooting months can be pretty questionable weather for many of us, so I allow early "Monthly Match" targets if they are within a reasonable window of time (7 to 10 days)... Early's okay / but never late... :shake
-
I'm in Florida this winter for the first time so I don't have my back yard range to shoot at. I did bring a couple guns along in case the opportunity to shoot a hog came up so I'll be able to drive to a range and get it done on time.
-
Paul, I'm itchin' to get out and do some shooting but this northwest Nebraska weather just ain't cooperating with me. I'm hopeful March will be better, but a person just never knows. Enjoy the Matches. :shake

Okay, we have Nessmuk's March scores posted above. :toast
I hope I can catch a decent weather day to get out to the Range myself this month. Whenever I get targets in the mail, I'm itching to get out and do some shooting. :bl th up

I remember a time years ago when our local ML following would always gather the 3rd Sunday of March to kick off our March through October monthly shoots. Well,,, needless to say that Mother Nature these past several years has had other plans in March and October for our planned monthly Sundays.
Now we take what we can get for decent weather and hope we can get to the Range... :)
Around here anymore, March is always questionable, as is April, and October....

Wow, I'm still 1st in Pistols and 2nd in Rifles 12 days into the month. That's a record for me :laffing :laughing :laffing :laughing :laffing

Hang in there, Nessmuk! :hairy

Maven, just received your smoothbore target today (we hadn't had mail for a'while because of the winter storm that hit us / snow drifts like you wouldn't believe, but the mail was finally able to run today...
That's a good target you turned in, in my humble opinion. :bl th up I wish I could do as well, but if we don't get some more snow moved out here - I don't see any way I'll be getting to the Range in March... Nice target... :shake
-
OK, am I correct in my observation on the scoring of these targets???? Only scorable rings are the ones with a points number (10's and 9's) right?. It seems obvious but I never say never. poorboy :Doh!

Here's a link to our scoring rules;

All scoring rings are scored. Most reduce from center 10X and down (10, 9, 8, 7, 6,) an so forth... :shake

I finally got a nice day and the range was open. Shot my rifle and smooth bore targets today. Hope to get the pistol targets done Monday and get them all in the mail before I leave for my pheasant hunt on Friday. I might just make it in the nick of time.

Well, I posted a score of 14-0x this morning in the March Rifle Monthly!!! :Doh!
As I cleaned my rifle in my workshop wondering why this happened (I kept stringing my shots right from 25 yards - I looked at my front sight (it didn't look right) and touched it and it moved... Yes the brass blade in the sight base is loose. Time to make a new front sight. I would just silver solder this one on the rifle now, but its thickness is only .070 and I have a hard time seeing that on this 42 inch barrel - so I'll go with a .090 thickness brass blade which I can see.
Hey, I was at least first to finish last in the March Rifle match unless someone up'stages me - but you'd have to work at shooting less then what I scored... :laffing
-
Ok, got my new sight made and installed with the .090 thick brass, and it's anchored and secure. I might break 20 points next month...

:wave Shot the March rifle target today, and it is in the mail. Now to hope it gets to Joe....

Sharp Stick, your score is posted! :hairy

All ready turned in my rifle target and finally got around to trying the smoothbore. I used my .62 NE Fowler as my first time shooting roundballs in a smoothie. This one is jug choked and she shot just fine. I am happy with my first time attempt. 8) :hairy
