Title: TMA flags
Post by: rollingb on July 03, 2019, 02:34:22 PM
Well I just got back from the big city (Kearney, NE), and while there, I took my TMA flag into Hobby Lobby and had a professional seamstress take a look at it.
She said it was definitely made commercially and although she was darn good at sewing, there was no way she could match the work done on my particular flag but she could come close.

She said the blue "ribbons" outlining the flag were made from a single piece of cloth, no "joints" anywhere.

She said the iron-on logo will have to be "cool-ironed on" so as to not damage the polyester material of the flag, and she can do that.

I left my flag with her to use as a pattern, and although she estimated the cost of labor to make a flag at $30.00, she said it might wind up being more than that, or it might be a bit less.

I gave her my phone number, and $50.00 for material and labor (I'm expecting to get some of the $50.00 back), and told her I'd mail her some logos as soon as I get some.

Now all I need are some iron-on TMA logos so she can do her job,.... any suggestions on the logos, or anyone know where I can get some?

She also asked how many flags I was needing and I told her,.... "possibly a couple of dozen". :bl th up  :)
For a minute, I thought the old gal was going to faint!  :laffing :o

:hairy Excellent work, my friend! You "done real good" as we say here in the South.  :bow Thank you! I am in for a new flag as soon as it gets made, and count me in on helping in any way necessary.  :shake

Ya think she might give us a bit of a bulk order discount? Never hurts to ask...She might even be able to start a "new business!"... :lol sign

Thanks Ray.  :shake :)

We'll see how things go after she gets the first flag made and how much time is involved.  :bl th up

She's not a "spring chicken" anymore (which I can certainly relate to ;)), but she does seem to enjoy sewing.  :bl th up

Right now, I'm having difficulty in acquiring a couple 5" TMA iron-on logos to send her. :(

UPDATE:....... I just received a quote from "Sticker You", for 24 custom TMA iron-on logos (enough for 12 flags),.... $157.00 which includes shipping.

I also received a quote from "irononlogo", for 24 custom TMA iron-on logos (enough for 12 flags), .... $120.00 not including shipping.

I think the big city (Kearney, NE) might also have a place that makes custom logos, but I won't have a chance to check them out until I get back from rendezvous (sometime after July 14th.).  :bl th up

Anyone else have a local business (fairly close to you), that makes custom iron-on logos?
For me, a "round trip" to Kearney, NE is 180 miles, so it's a bit unhandy,.... but might be an alternative, rather than ordering custom logos online.

My daughter has a friend that might be able to help us, but she is out of town this week. Let me talk to her next week.

That sounds promising David.  :bl th up

I'm out of'em,.... but I think Uncle Russ might have a few 4" TMA logo "stickers" that could be used as a pattern for some custom 5" iron-on logos.  :bl th up

Rondo, I have 3-3/8" or 9.5mm Round "stick-on" Stickers for Range Boxes, work benches, windows...whatever.
Perhaps this is the 4" you are thinking of..... :bl th up

I also have one 5" Round sew-on, that I believe is also an "Iron-on" embroidered patch....if I can find it in my shop. I'm worse than Two Steps when it comes to my "stuff'.
I got it from Beaverman, many years ago at Monroe when he had a TMA table set up.
I I know I have never used it because I was never sure if it was indeed an iron-on....I had planned to put it on my shooting jacket but that never happened.....
I'll look for it and when and if I do find it, I will send it to you.
I can't sleep, so I'll just go out right now and look around a bit!

Thanks fellas,.... I think I'll just order 12 logos from "irononlogos" to make sure they are exactly what we want before ordering more.

I'll get on this after we get back from rendezvous.  :hairy

Thanks again!

Contact Sir Michael, he and I made the iron on transfers for the original state rep banners, not hard to do if you have a laser printer, knowing him he probably still has the the print file in his data base!
