Post by: Puffer on September 30, 2019, 02:05:44 PM
For me there are 2 types of Bladed items I carry Knives & an Axe  {Note - For me they are "necessary" Tools & only in dire situations are they weapons. ( + I am not an advocate of "throwing" them )  :Doh!}

Hey Puffer. I agree with you that an axe is first and foremost a tool.  :hairy and I don't throw mine either ( I have to work too hard to keep it sharp & I hate replacing handles...lol)

I assume you carry your belt knife on your belt... :Doh! But I am interested in where you carry your other two knives. Neck sheath? Hunting Bag or Haversack/Pack Basket/Bedroll?

Usually  the smallest 1 tied on the "strap" of my "bag"  ( for cutting patches)  or in my kilt hose & the mid sized 1 in my bag' Or in the top  of  my "mocs"

About the only use I have for a hatchet is for butchering. For that I carry one of them little cheap cast steel fort miegs axes with the handle cut down to about 8 or 9 inches. Fits nicely in a canvas pouch and not to heavy. No real need for chopping wood around here as good stuff is just laying all over the ground.

For dressing game I usually use a folding pocket knife. Or something with about a 3" blade. I don’t generally carry one of those "crew served" knives, bit I really like this belt knife because it’s dang handy around the kitchen and cookpot!

Why would you,in the heat of battle ,throw away a perfectly good weapon?
