I'm waiting for hunting seasons to end then it's back to the leather bench for me.

Too much time hunting, not enough time harvesting.
-
That's exactly right, my archery seasons are more like a stroll in the woods than hunting.
Leaving for sunny ft Myers Florida tomorrow. Yep Florida..
Oughta be interesting. Anyways it's the firearms season when I get back so me and my 54 are hopefully gonna make some smoke.

My youngest is homeless in Orlando, living in a tent while saving up his money to get into an apartment, or flop house, or what have you. He texted me in the middle of the hurricane that he was trying to get back to his tent, instead of trying for shelter. KIDS! ;banghead; We were worried stiff & had the church praying for safety for him. Finally got another text last night that he was okay and would be at work this morning.
Thank you, Lord! :hairy

I'm guessin' that's not a good idea, after what happened yesterday down there - no gas available, impassible roads & nowhere to sleep except in your vehicle.

Well shoot,
Not going to FLA, everything is still flooded, w/o power etc.
Mother in law is fine at shellpoints shelter.
I went elk hunting instead.

There is just something about elk hunting in North Idaho that is almost magical.
I would go up the North Fork of the CdA River to Pritchart and get a room at Gloria's. It was a combination motel and restaurant and store. A prime rib dinner came with the room. I always reserved the room for two people, although most often it was just me. I would have them wrap up the second prime rib and take it out for lunch the next day.
From there, I would range out to some areas I liked and take my rifle for some pleasant walks through the mountains. Honestly, I never got anything, but who cared? It was terrific. Beautiful scenery, crisp clear air, and the promise of some tasty eating for the winter. As I said, I never got one, but from some of the places I went, I didn't want to.

It's not the kill so much as the hunt.
Fresh air,
Beautiful Scenery,
Close to Nature.

Yep a nice walk in the woods does a body good . John, I have spent a lot of time up trouble creek, right there at the Pritchard turn off. Quite a bit of bear sign in there.
Well no elk for archery but now I have 5 days of "any weapons" season, I'll take my hawken.
Then if that dont pan out I have trad muzzleloader only seasons in Nov and Dec.
