I finished this arm guard today for a friend of mine. It has a cowhide backing and a cape buffalo facing. The hoof print and trim are deer hide. I carved the lace hooks out of deer antler and sewed everything up by hand using artificial sinew. Now I have to make one for his daughter.

I bought that tan hide about 4 years ago and have been saving it back for just the right project. I think it worked really well for this one.

Cape buffalo facing?
My goodness, that is something else.
One doesn't have to be interested in something (like archery) to be impressed with the work someone does.
Terrific, just terrific.
