Now that you mention it, does anyone have a good recipe on how to make Walnut dye? I would like to have it. Thank's for your time.

Just add some denatured alcohol to it about 1/4 cup to 2 quarts and it will keep stuff from growing on the top, I have a jar thats 3 years old, no science project growing on it!

make sure you use the 99% alcohol ('bout 2 bottles/5 gallon bucket), NOT the 70%, I've got about 3 1/2 gallons from about 3-4 years ago, 'n still doesn't smell bad and no mold.

Boil it, put it in a mason jar while hot, and put on the lid and ring.  It will keep until you open it and crack the seal, and use.  Then boil it again and put on a new lid.
