S Guard Rifle/Miltia Knife

Finished this one this morning. It's been a couple of years since I made a knife with a guard. This one was almost more fun than work, but was also very time consuming requiring a lot of hand filing. 9" blade of 01 vanadium tool steel. Through tang peened over a steel butt cap, in a grip of very nice curly maple, with chip carved rings. Grip is 4 5/8" in total length. All mounts and hardware on knife and sheath are of mild steel. All very lightly aged by the cold blue and bleach method. I hope you enjoy a look.

Excellent design and workmanship . I"ve always prefered my knives to have a guard , at least on the edged side . I guess the guard was not as common as the butcher style , but for stout work , it can save them calling you "old 3 fingers" .
