Tecumseh gun
« on: January 13, 2013, 10:07:18 AM »
Has anyone heard what the "Tecumseh gun" sold for at the CLA show this past year? While i'm sure it's way out of my league, i would have loved for it to have gone to our local museum here in Ft. Greeneville. The very place where he refused to sign the treaty of peace with Gen. Wayne.

I don't know anything about it, but I'm sure it sold very high.

It was,in MY opinion, finished TOO well! $5,500 is A LOT for a North West gun! It was an incredable gun built extremly well.

Gun prices alway's befudle me. I've seen "Barn Gun's",ie;no butt plate, entry thimble, side plate,1 lock screw and no nose cap. $3800! Davis lock,Colerain Barrel. Even the trigger guard was purchased. But it had a "known" builders name on it.

Curly Gostomsky built the,IMHO,the most accurate NW gun's to date. I have one he built in the mid '70's,and belive me,it wouldnt even be looked at in a contest, let alone judged! But it was an extremly accurate rendering of a Barnett gun. I'm rather partial to 'em!

That's right Path, I live less than 20 miles from Curly's shop and there dozens of them around here. He did his research and got'em right the first time. Never have owned one though. I've worked on quite a few. Great shooters and very lightweight, like there suppose to be. My buddy Tater has a 24ga Chief's grade, 42" that weigh's in at 6lb. 5oz. I only got to shoot with him a couple of times and all ever talked about was his guns!!! Fine Feller
