My Retirement Appointment

Congratulations on your approaching retirement. You have earned it! I plan to retire at 62 in a little over three years, and look forward to it more than I care to admit. Enjoy!

I did mention to them at work this morning that if someone called in sick, or when someone goes on vacation, or if something else of this or that nature came up, I could work some - provided it didn't cross with other plans I may have going on, but,,, Friday thru Monday was out...

They seemed plum happy with that...

As of today I have 7-1/2 working days left - then on to vacation (7 days) - then on to Retirement. I'm edging a bit closer with each passing day.    I'm gonna be so under-foot, my wife ain't gonna know what to do with me... 

Well if your wife is anything like mine she will have plenty for you to do.......

Yep, that's how the lady folk seem to roll.
And, it seems to come on pretty strong, right about retirement time.

  Otherwise,  How in the world did I ever find time to go to work all those years?

You know Russ,,, last night at supper she did mention the basement??? Hmmm,,,, I don't know if she plans on storing me down there or if she has a project lined out for me???

As a friend of my wife's said, "I married him for better or for worse.  I married him for sickness or in good health.  But I sure as hell didn't marry him for lunch!!!!!"

Indeed! I will remember this wisdom that's been shared for sure 'cause I don't want to make supper... I can swing lunch...  Not to brag, but I've been known to make a mean piece of toast with peanut butter, and I've been known to stir up some mac & cheese with the occasional hot dog...

Well I can tell you that I retired 8 years ago and still working that honey do list she started when I retired.  Then we bought a cabin in Vermont so I got a second honey do list.  Imagine that.      And I now do most of the supper cooking on the grill or a fire!!!!
