Pemmican and Hardtack stew
« on: March 29, 2021, 09:24:44 PM »
A thread on another forum about Hardtack reminded me that I still had one more biscuit and a little more pemmican. Experimenting a little, I pounded the hardtack and boiled it and the pemmican in a bit of water.  The hardtack seemed to soak up the excess fat and the pemmican dissolved into its small bits.  Added a pinch of cayenne and it made a passable stew.  Far better than cold pemmican and hard biscuit!
Lord, make my words as sweet as honey for tomorrow I may have to eat them.  Amen
