Any one out there have a simple recipe for a cold browning solution? One that takes many coats for a few days to build up a thick coat of rust.....Tom

Tom,
You might check this page for a recipe:
http://www.sciencecompany.com/-W160.aspx
Or, try this thought. In the mid 1990's, I bought Ol' Thunder Mfg from a guy in Portland. One of the products was Cold Brown - to my mind it was the best browning solution I had ever tried. About 10 coats gave the metal a beautiful, dark brown finish. Anyway, last year I sold the business to Fletcher. You might ask him to make up a pint or a quart for you. I did that for a couple of different gun makers and they all really liked it as well.

Tom,
I don't know if I would pay much attention to the fatal error message you get after a PM is sent. Seems like everyone who is sending a PM is getting that message, and for some reason most of the messages do go through. That is strictly FWIW.

I got your message and will see how much it costs me to make a new batch.
I was going to bottle it in 2 oz glass bottles, but will see if I have or can get some a bit bigger.
2 oz. should go a long ways.
