Sea service/trade pistol

Seems like the older I get the more spare parts I find laying around the shop--getting underfoot.  So I rounded up a bunch of 'em & tried to turn out a sorta sea service or trade pistol 1770-80 more or less. Started with a L&R RPL lock that I re-filed to be little more in line with the period.  A block of walnut from the great state of Oregon.  And a 16 bore LC smith barrel from Numrich co.  I'm thinking Continental Marine's on "bonhomme' Richard.  whatever---Not finished yet--but may be late next week, maybe.  Anyway here she is.  Click on the pic to see the progress.  Thoughts or criticism welcome, even if it breaks my heart.    ....Tom

Tom, I love it when you show these layouts, I can see things happen before they even take place, and that ain't all bad, IMHO.

As a side note, and totally off topic; Steelhead are stacking up below the Wanapu Dam on the Columbia River just below Vantage, it's that time of year my friend!

Grand son calling it Papa's pirate gun.... A "Snake charmer"  should do the job nicely. Biggest pistol soooo far.  I think 30 gr 2f equal #7's to start or a .650 ball for charging bunnies     .....Tom

Wow! When God took all the left over parts when He created, and populated the earth, He came up with the Aardvark!  You need to do a shop clean up more often, this one came out beautiful.

Tom, ever see an Aardvark? Could make one from Dems.  PO is all white today, our normal wet slippery sort. Pretty, but I will only make it to the shop, or woodshed until it goes away.  BTW, you look real familiar.

Can't be 2 old men ugly as me.  Long time back that I lived in PO.  got there late '66 lived out by long lake near Ollala. moved to Bellfair for a while & ended up in Forks until 1984. Moved down to Oregon for work, retired in 2004 came here to desert.
