been there, done that quite a bit. first with various moose milk ratios, then straight ballistol juice. the straight worked the best for me, too, IMHO.
straight rendered bear tallow has been The Best of all for me (thanx ed!), but it's kinda oily wet (which is a good thing) and i like more of a "dry" grease for both roll up patch strips in the shooting bag and balls in boards. i never use precut patches ('cept those already loaded in ball boards).
prior to going strictly PPB for BPCR/TR, i did a lotta testing with gato feo #1 as a "dry" grease patch lube, and that's been my ultimate choice for the last coupla years.
