Early Christmas, Thanks greyhunter!

Santa came to visit this old boy today, and he brought me a nice little toy.

Thanks to Lynn Adams, known here by many as "greyhunter", just sent me a nice Christmas Present.
It is a small miniature Cannon made by Lynn many years ago...it's complete with loading instructions and a few 0.325 roundball...

I laid out a few items for comparison sake, this little puppy is small....
Makes my own old Toy Cannon look huge in comparison.

Anyway, this little guy is just about as neat as it gets with it's little wooden carriage and 'scotch or  lift block' used for elevation.

As a side note; I made a little cannon as a shop project using the Lathe & Mill while in Gunsmithing school in Colorado.
And, using Lynn's same load (10gr FFFg and toilet paper for wadding), I have been tempted for years to Chronograph that little puppy...lol
Problem is, knowing my luck I'll hit the darn Chrony!
Chronographs are just to dadburn expensive for that...still yet, being the kind of guy I am, and having fired that thing a whole bunch of times, I would be willing to bet it will do better than 500 fps.....with that little 47gr ball...

Wanna bet? 

I have always wanted to patch that little ball, with a thin, itty bitty patch.
However, so far, common sense has prevailed.



I always thought that little guy was pretty cool, but as I remember my grade on the project wasn't all that good. Can't recall all that was wrong, so I did another one (this one) and it got a little better grade.....

Russ, Russ, Russ, what's a mother to do with an errant child like you?.
It's called a Christmas present for a reason.  You are supposed to open in on Christmas Day, not a week before.
All those details aside, that is a pretty cool little cannon.  I will have to show you a photo of my .50 caliber cannon one of these days.  It's a different take on the subject.

    .......You betcha, I think it's kinda cute too.

Still yet, I will have to say that although they are cute, ya gotta be careful, very careful, when piddling around with these little guys, at least the one I made.
They are so small that the least little thing just might put that little ball in a totally "wrong" direction.
Plus, I have never learned to properly aim my old one, and it's not like that little ball just goes out there about 40 or 50 foot and falls to the ground...on mine, that little puppy was whizzing when it comes out and I have never recovered a ball, they're too small, and going to fast to see where they hit.
I did shoot a hole in a 3/8" piece of plywood once...that's when I decided it was a bit more than just a little toy.

I have seen dirt fly on the safety berm on the 25yd range.
I fired it from the bench, aiming it as best I could at a full target with butcher paper on it, but I must have missed that target 10' to the left, and high!
I was using 15gr FFFg, but I cut that back to 10gr. and I still can't hit squat with it.
But...they are made for fun, and that's about all you ask of 'em.

"Pocket cannon"? Better make sure you're concealed carry permit is up to date. Now ya need a "pocket powder horn, w/ pouch" for fast reloads!!!!!!! Sure hope your attacker is around 9 ft. tall, and 7 ft around. Even i couldn't miss one like that with a "Pocket Cannon". There should be someone here who can design a strongside holster for that, as well.......
