Free Firewood...Through the Mail
« on: March 24, 2019, 08:10:30 PM »
My mailman, Joe, stopped by yesterday and had a box for me.  The return address said that it was from 'ol Hank in WV.  I opened the box and there was a small piece of wood and a note inside...The note said that I could use the wood in my fireplace if I wanted...since my fireplace is gas (but it's old pre 1840 gas) I took a better look at the wood.  Hard to believe, but darned if that hunk of wood didn't look just a like an old Hillbilly carrying a long rifle!!
Yes sir..'ol Hank had done gone and carved me out one of those Hillbillies that he's known to make~Now that was a good surprise!
THANKS HANK!
Al

I can say 1st hand that Hank does make a nice Hillbilly.
He can also carve a fair resemblance of this historical figure too.
The old boy is gettin on up in age, and I've thought about puttin together a "Go Fund Me" thingy to get him a new pocket knife for his burfday so he can continue his whittlin during his Golden Years.

BTW; I've got one of Hank's Hillbillies and they are pretty doggone neat.
(I'ffn I am smart enough to do all this....kinda like talk while chewing gum.

Edited to add a couple of pictures....proudly displayed on my Mantel.....

That camera flash might'a been a bit to much for the little guy (I didn't get his face that good), but that ol' white lightning il' do that to a person... :Doh! :laffing thanks again Hank!  :hairy

I'll get a better picture up real soon.

Here we go... I'd a swore that bottle was half full when I went to get the camera... Hmmm  :laffing

You guys are quite welcome. They took me way longer than I expected. I had a bit of a rough year. I started them late in the winter last year, then in Apr I tried to cut a finger off. After getting it all sewed back together and healed up, I tried for another in July (I ain't too bright). So after that, I was a little gun-shy of sharp objects. Now I know some of us hillbillys ain't too bright Russ, but even we carry our rifles muzzle forward.

You Hillbilly fellers can see pretty good too, don'tcha think?

Hank, old friend, I've known for a long time that ya should'a stayed away from them there sharp and pointy things.

Glad yer on the mend.

Jan says welcome to her world, and she still wants to ride in that new sport-mobile of yours, when yer able to drive again.
And, I'm supposed to let ya know that she has been a real good girl for almost two years now, hasn't broken anything major...not even as much as a little toe.....staying upright is a good thing, don'tcha think?
