Some signs of Spring around here!
« on: March 12, 2020, 09:32:35 AM »
The buffalo grass is startin' to green up, strings of geese and sandhill cranes have been flyin' over on their way north,... and on a hill just southwest of the house, the prairie chickens have been "boomin'" each morning for the last week.

Come on spring,.... I'm ready for'ya!  :*: :applaud

Yes sir Rondo, I'd bet we're all hoping for an early Spring with decent weather. We can't complain up here to much along the Pine Ridge, we've had good weather for the past couple weeks - and now it looks like we're gonna a pay for that a little bit the next 7 to 10 days, but it was sure nice while it lasted.  :hairy

That description warmed the old heart. I've been working in my yard for the past couple of days and those noisy Canadians has bugged the heck of me. Looks like most of my bulbs were saved, the grass is greening up, I see new growth and a lot of little bulbs on my climbing roses, which is a good thing because I actually thought I was going to loose all my plants after this really hard winter.
It's almost time for me to clean up the rifle guns and shoot a little bit, something my health has not permitted for the past couple of years.
Spring is coming and life is good.....what more could an old feller ask for?
I can see snow on the mountains all around me, and that wind has very familiar chill to it. But with that sun shining like is today it will certainly warm things up a bit by this afternoon.

As I said, this all adds up to making life pretty good.

It's the many things we don't do that totally sets us apart.

It sure does Russ.  :hairy

The mornings here,.... have been just warm enough to allow me to sit out on the deck and drink my morning coffee.  :toast

The weather man is predictin',.... a chance for rain mixed with snow this weekend, but it won't stop things from warming up again.  :applaud

saw some robins in the back yard gathering fishing worms. That's always a good sign. Even drove around with the top down for awhile.

Thanks for this thread. It warmed the very cockles of my heart.

It's the same here at the edge of the Blue Ridge in Virginia. Got a pair of Bluebirds considering if the little house over the deep beds is a good fit for them and the ol' woodpeckers are all pounding away to stake out their territory. Had to lift up the storm windows and lower the screens to let in that nice fresh air, and the garlic I planted last Fall is up and growing like weeds.

Now, if this Virus will just back off so we can hold out Spring Events I will be about as happy as a Junebug in a Blackberry bush.
