For the previous 8 years I've worked at the company office in Arizona. The rest of my engineering team all work in Kansas. I go to my office with a couple hundred others, but I never have any interaction with them for work. I only Skype, Slack, or call my team in Kansas.
For 8 years I've been asking to work from home. The answer have always been, sorry, that's against company policy.
Now I get to work from home. I like it!
Unfortunately, I had to go into the office last friday to restart some equipment that had died. Then monday I get an email from the company saying, we've had someone report symptoms of the virus who was in the building last week and anyone who was in the building that week, please, self-quarantine for 2 weeks.
I guess, I'll have to self-quarantine myself out into some lonely spot in the desert and shoot holes in an 8x11 picture of that ugly virus.
