Tartan trews?
« on: April 14, 2011, 11:01:38 AM »
Not a kilt question, hence a new thread. I once saw a fellow wearing tartan (plaid) military-style narrow-fall trousers, and I've never got it out of my head. Anyone know who makes the pattern for those trousers? I actually used that pattern many years ago to make some buckskin "pants" that I still wear. Can't recall whose pattern it was. And since matching tartan patterns a seams is more than tricky, any recommendations for someone who can sew such a garment?

I'm waiting for Puffer to chime in here..... :lol sign

Well People, the "old man"", has basically "fanned out" Have yet to find any tailoring patterns for Military Taryan trews, ( either modern era or earlier.) :Doh!

Even the MoDs  for sale on the web are drying up. ( but some are still out there, you just have to search & be patient.

As to having new ones made, there are some "tailors" on the net that say they make them.
Just a word of "CAUTION", many, who make the claim, are not "really" ( Be sure that they have the Military waist, that leg seam is on INSIDE ( Not Outside ) & they are 16oz +)

Here is one that looks Good ( actually would be period ) - http://www.highlandclans.com/Tartan_Tre ... _16oz.html

:)   One of my "sources" came through with a "Pattern"

http://www.patternsoftime.com/proddetai ... 919&cat=20

If making  ca 1820s, some adapt ness.. ( sans pockets + Higher waist)
