I've been wanting to make a new quiver for myself and finally found the time to do it. And I got it done just in time. Our season opened on 9/15 and I finished this 2 days before that.
I've always been a fan of the side quiver but wanted to make something that I could easily fasten on and take off. After studying on the problem a while, I came up with a ring-and-hook attachment system. Now I can carry the quiver on my belt, or with a strap around my neck, or just carry it in my hand. So far, it seems to be working out well.
As you can see, I like color! I've got just about every family in the animal kingdom represented here. The body is made from bison leather and the turquoise trim is deer. The light orange trim at the mouth is stingray, the dark orange on the bottom is caiman, the circle thingy is ring lizard and the "swoosh" is ostrich leg skin. I carved the hanging ring out of moose antler and the belt loop hook out of deer antler. I sewed everything up by hand using artificial sinew. It took some time and money (exotic leather is expensive!) but I am happy with the finished product.
Now I just need to kill a deer while using it...
