forearm lenght.
« on: October 07, 2014, 02:36:20 PM »
Okay, so I know there are proportions for the area around the lock, the length of the wrist, at least on longrifles. (do those apply to halfstocks?)

So, is there a certain proportion for forearm length on a half-stock?

I just can't bring myself to cut the forearm yet.......... but, can't go any farther without drilling the RR hole  :?

From the Berlin school of gunmaking 1743.  Forearm is 3/8" of barrel length.  Divide bbl. by 8 then times 3----thats one way.  44" bbl. div by 8 =5.5" X 3=16.5"    ...Tom

So, for a 33 inch barrel, that would be 3/8*33=12.375.

would that be from the breech or the flash hole (drum)?

Thanks.
