Lakota Made Bow
« on: November 06, 2016, 09:34:20 AM »
One of my best friends is a Lakota Indian. We're going elk hunting next year with my flintlock.

I knew he made his own bows and wood arrows like the old way of his forefathers. I believe he uses sinew for the string. Knaps the broadheads too. About as old school as you can get. His great grandfather was in the Little Big Horn battle against Custer.

Anyway, I showed interest in his bow making skills and he asked me if i'd like one. I thought about it for a nano second and jumped at the idea. So, he said he make one for me and some arrows too.

I started as a youngster shooting a longbow. It's only fitting I should end with one too. I'm not sure if the poundage will be high enough to use for hunting, but I don't care. It will be fun shooting it.
