Well, frost bite can cause your fingers and toes to fall off. So I guess if you was to "freeze your butt off" that would mean it was really cold!
Yep Steve, that's pretty dadburn cold.
And it's absolutely death on Car & Truck & Boat batteries.
Which, as we all know, sure don't come cheap anymore.
FWIW; I dug my Walleye boat out of the snow last Friday afternoon, the snow get's so heavy it collapses the supports holding the cover up and then you have a real mess when the cover collapses from the weight, and you all that stuff gets inside the boat, anyway I uncovered it, checked the water in the two main batteries, added a bit of water and put the chargers back on.
The front trolling motor is run by two Group 24, 12Volt AGM batteries, hooked in parallel.
Last year, up until right now, has been my first experience with AGM batteries and I am truly impressed....the boat has been covered since November with the chargers running on maintenance, the AGM's were at 100% while the lead core was maintaining at around 92%, which is about average for a Group 26 12Volt Deep Cycle in sub-freezing weather.
I guess what I'm getting at here is, if you have equipment that stays outside in the winter, and want a really good cold weather battery, you just might want to consider the AGM.....so far, it has proven far superior to any Deep Cycle I have used in the past.
Jus'sayin....
