Everyone make the transition.....???
« on: April 02, 2017, 03:34:15 PM »
:Doh! Here's hoping everyone made the transition ok.

I ran into the problem of trying to use the "old link" to get on the "new forum"....WOW!
Rob got that fixed lickety-split, as soon as it was discovered, and for now we have two front doors, one from the old Forum, and one directly into the new Forum.

However, you will still want set a NEW Bookmark, for the NEW Forum.

I consider myself a wee bit below what may be consider even as "average", when it comes to using computer thingys, but I honestly do feel that, given a little time and everyone gets used to using this new forum, you are going to agree with me that this should have happened a long time ago....

Don't forget we have been operating on a system that was better'n 20 years old, serving a large community like we have, and in today's modern world of computers, anything that old is normally put to pasture years before it starts causing many of the problems we were being faced with.

But it has been finally been done, and I would like to wish everyone smooth sailing from here on out!   :toast

It's okay here. It sure looks different and it will take time for me to adjust.

I agree, me too!  :bl th up
Glad to see you made the transition!

But once you check it out, kick the tires and give it a test drive, I think we are all going to appreciate the effort that went into this.

The "old system" should have been replaced years ago, the TMA was spinning its wheels constantly, trying to keep up with the ever evolving world of technology, and modernization was waaay over due.

Thanks for hanging in there, John
If you should know of anyone that had, or are still having any problem, please send them our new link.

Those old Bookmarks will take everyone back to the old forum, which is silent.
We will all need to set new bookmarks.

(BTW: There is a large link at the top of the old page directing everyone here, but some folks are going to miss that and become frustrated, unfortunately)

Thanks, Uncle Russ...

It'll take me time to get use to the new format.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

I've used this format for a long time on several other forums, and once everyone makes the connection and gets used to the new look, you will find that it much easier to use and more bells and whistles.

:Doh! Geeesh Hank, what's the good Uncle to do?

My friend, I think you need another visit to the Pacific Northwest.
Most, or at least 80% of the snow and ice is gone from here in the Basin, and the mountains around us stand out like a sore thumb on nice days like today.
Besides that I have a couple more locks we can tinker with, and we might even make it to the range on your next trip.  :o

We didn't get to do much on your last trip, with Mama Bear laid-up in the Hospital from back surgery, we ended up kinda fending for ourselves, but I promise your next trip to be better.

Thanks David!
That's very encouraging, hope all the good folks get a handle on it.
I've been using for all of two days, and I like more all the time.

a BIG welcome to all who've made it over here!  :wave

i know lotsa folks don't like new stuff, me included, so thanx for persevering and we'll be here to help you with your transition.

:*:

why new forum software???  well, simply put, we had issues with the old software in areas that affected both the administration and the user community.  we spent many Many MANY months in tests and trials before committing to the live move.  there were some issues, mainly in that some of the smilies in existing posts didn't properly convert (but you can edit yer post and fix the bad smilie, if need be).  there are still a number of things to sort out, but we're getting there.

after arriving here, it would be a good idea to check the settings of your profile - there are lots of options that you can tailor to your personal requirements.

thank you for your patience and i hope that in the long run you'll find our new TMA home comfy.  :shake

Made it over! Thanks for the notice. I don't post much, but liked reading on here and seeing what folks craft.

That's cool rafterp, glad you're here, and I'm especially glad that we do in fact have sooo many good to even great Craftsmen onboard with us.
