A good day
« on: April 22, 2017, 11:15:20 PM »
My grandson and I set out this morning for some fishing and had a great time. He reeled in the first Rainbow Trout, then I got the 2nd and 3rd, then he got the 4th & 5th, and I got the 6th one (a whopping 14-1/2 inches) so we had a good morning. None of the trout were under 12 inches. After we got back home we cleaned them and put 'em in the freezer for next weekends cookout.

The afternoon was just as enjoyable. We threw the hawks, made a new front sight with a wider brass blade to re'fit one of my muzzle loading rifles (which no doubt will become the little guy's when I head off to that big Rendezvous in the hereafter, (no immediate plans for that right now), and just tinkered the rest of the day away. Not bad for a 60 & 7-1/2 year old couple a guys... :hairy

Joe,
That sounds like a pretty good day for anyone, regardless of age.
Most all of the trout I have had were little brookies, more like 6 or 7" long, not them monsters like you are catching.  Kind of a coincidence here, they were all caught along with my grandfather.  After he quit fishing, I never cared to go again.

Sounds awesome! I got to spend some time earlier this week with my little grandson, who turns 1 on June 1. He was a ton of fun! :bl th up
