I saw a bumper sticker once to the effect;
"Hire a teenager now! While they know everything there is to know. As they get older they somehow forget".

I suspect there's tremendous truth in that little saying.

A heavy little box arrived yesterday from Washington.  Thank you muchly, our dear Uncle!  The schedule is pretty full next week but I'll have to squeeze in some time to go run some rounds through the T-C and see how she does now.

I cleaned the barrel the other day after I got a jag to fit from Dixie Gunworks.  Part way through it got real hard to pull water in and push it out through the touch hole.  Eventually a small bit of red plastical stuff came out enough that I could grab it and pull it all the way through.  It looks like it came from one of the 3M sanding "scrubbies" so I guess Mr. Hoyt used that to do the final smoothing of the bore.

In the same box with the cleaning jag was a box each of Speer .530 and .535 balls so I'm good to go when the time comes.  Excitement knows no bounds!

No doubt there's some truth in those words, Russ.

~Kees~, let us know how that barrel shoots once you get a chance to test her out.  :bl th up

Uncle Russ...

Bonus? Was that the Bull Durham bag the balls were in?  I hope so; if there was something else in there I missed it and the box just went to the recycling center....   :o

My humble apologies for not mentioning that!

Every old Dog needs period correct things, like Bull Durham bags, to put their "stuff" in.
Everybody ain't ain't got 'em, mostly because the last few generations have no idea what they are, or what they look like.

Got the chance to go shoot it today.  I quit after 3 shots; whimped out, really.  My hands were cold.  Anyway, I was very impressed with how it shoots and loads now.  At 25 yards I had two shots touching and the third about an inch low, which was probably me.  That was off sand bags, 70 grains of Schuetzen 2Fg, pillow ticking patch and Hornady .535 ball.  And the sights were spot on!  I can't ask for anything better.  No wiping between shots either, although with only three shots that doesn't say much.  I am impressed with Mr. Hoyt's work!
