Lyman Maintenance Kit
« on: April 29, 2018, 08:14:15 AM »
Received a nice little package from Lyman yesterday, it's a (Muzzleloaders Maintenance Kit 50/54 cal.) Part No. 04075

Along with this kit they sent a cover letter thanking me for sending in my "recall barrel" along with their apology for these defective barrels.

I think that was pretty darn nice of them. They recognized the problem and have taken steps to correct the defective barrel problem, and by sending this nice little kit it lets a feller know that they not only received your barrel, but they appreciate your business.

Lyman's a class act all the way 'round!  :hairy

What all is in the kit, Joe.
I looked it up on the Lyman page and although they went on about how wonderful it is, they didn't list anything in it.
I agree that they are good people.  Back in the day, I had dealings with them and they always seemed like folks that would stand behind their word.

Hah!!! I was going to list what was in the kit and forgot to... :Doh!

Here's what they sent;

A nice little canvas belt bag

cleaning/swabbing patches
2 - bore mops
2 - bronze bore brushes
Nipple wrench
Breech scraper
Ball puller
Not sure if this is a screw driver head or anti-breech scraper?
2- jags (probably .50 & .54
Patch puller (the sturdy one - not the cheap one Track sells)
1.2 oz cleaning solvent
1.2 oz gun oil

and there's plenty of room for a ball starter and some other items in the bag if a person wanted to take extra flint, caps, ball block, ball starter,,, overall, a nice little bag of goodies.  :hairy

Now dang it, you're going to make me feel bad that I don't have one of those Lymans any more!  Even if they have a funky breech, but so does my T-C.

Hmmm.  No frownies to add to my post, just smileys.  What's a guy to do?

Kees, maybe you can find a used Lyman GPR that falls into that serial number bracket and send it in to get re' breeched, thereby getting a bag of goodies...

Okay, probably not the best plan, but it was all I could come up with...  :shake
