For the record, I  like snakes too .........   in the  backyard ..... eating gophers, moles and voles   .... then leaving. ;)

I too am in the camp which likes snakes.  Been that way ever since I found out my ex mother-in-law was afraid of them!  :o

But to return to the original post, it seems appropriate that a snaky bow like that would have snakeskin backing!  :toast

I just finished this replica of a Mescalero-Apache arrow quiver today,.... the original is in the Denver Art Museum.
It's made of smoked brain tanned deer skin, and trade wool.  :bl th up

It's going to my son for the Osage Orange bow I gave him, and I like it enough to make another one for my new "snakey bow" that is in the makin'.  ;D

Don't pay any attention to the fiber glass arrows in the quiver, they're just some kids arrows that I dropped in it temporarily for the picture.  :laffing

I like the looks of that quiver Rondo!  :hairy

I wish the archery contest at Chadron Fur Trade Days didn't overlap so darn close in starting times with the shooting matches...  I've only been able to shoot in one of their archery contests, and that was many years ago when starting times for events where spread out a bit more.  Also, have you heard any talk of a winter meeting date for Fur Trade Days? If I recall, the winter meeting use to be in February as so to plan for the July Rendezvous, and it was held at the Museum - but this may have changed as well?

My wife purely hates and fears snakes.Me? Their just another of gods creatures,I had to fight a few and killed a rattle once that I probably did not have too  but I was young and he rattled at us in a swamp.never heard one before for real but instantly new it was danger and a micro second later new what it was before I even saw it ,I just knew and jumped away without skipping a beat so he never got a shot at me,a 5’ timber rattler.we killed a few in the Marines, big ones ,a Bushmater in Panama,a big Copperhead at my old house that almost bit me ,but never hated them .I just hope a poisonous one don’t bite me,that can be bad,my friend got bit by a Copperhead that was no worse than a bee sting for him,but they can control the amount of poison I’ve heard and if they recently killed there can be less poison

Hey Rondo, I forgot to tell you that at this years Fur Trade Days Camp, Steve Donker was working on a Cross Bow for some feller... I watched him test fire it, and it was rather impressive.  :bl th up

I bought my first on last year ,it looks more like an AR then a bow but it is bad ass and a little high tech and out of my norm but if I found a planet blaster that fell off a UFO I’d keep it too! I just dotes on weapons!
