Just wanted to give those a heads up who may be looking for quality gongs that hold up to muzzleloading round balls and (even high power modern cartridge rounds) ShootingTargets7 has their (Labor Day Sale) going on with discount if you use their pormotion code LABORDAY
I highly recommend them, their AR500 gongs are fantastic and hold up great! If you're interested, I would suggest;
1/2" x 6" Gong (I like mine for 40 to 50 yard usage)
3/8" x 8" Gong (I like mine for 50 to 70+ yard usage)
3/8" x 10" Gong (I like mine for 70 to 100+ yard usage)
I mention this as I'm planning on our TMA having a few (perhaps bi-monthly) Postal Match Gong Shoots in 2020...
Those that can't shoot gongs at their local Range will be able to use the NRA TQ-3/1 Target for the 6" gong (all scoring rings), and the NRA TQ-4 Target with 7 Ring Black for their 8" gong,,, and the 6 Ring of their TQ-4 Target for their 10" gong... (In this case, scoring rings on the paper NRA Targets will only be used to determine a "paper" gong size - and a hit (or nick) in any of the "eligible paper target scoring rings" at their set distance is considered a hit...
It will be your call weather to use a paper gong, or a metal gong.
NOTE: I like the 1/2" x 6" gong for the shorter range(s) 50 yards and under, as that extra 1/8" of metal is pretty friendly to minimize the swinging time of the target - though there is no reason you couldn't use a 3/8" x 6" gong for 50 yards as by the time you reload your muzzleloading firearm - it will have stopped swinging.
