Early 1820s Historically Correct KILT

At this time, the "feelar-bead" (little wrap) style Kilt was different than the modern 1 of today. !

I decided that I "needed" an early 1820s historically correct kilt. An acquaintance (a Historian {who was also a great tailor & kilt maker })  said he would research it out  About 6 mo.s later, he showed me his results & I chose the 1 I (see below pics)

Tartan "Black Douglas" (1029)
4 1/2 yd.s, 15oz Scottish wool
High Waisted
Box pleated (12)
Side fastened with buttons (modern 1s use leather straps & buckles)
 (the $ was the fabric # an old (non firing Scots pistol (he wanted for fun)

Never knew about the buttons on early 19th century kilts. Now I will either have to wear me great kilt, or keep a long shirt over the top on my inappropriate buckles...
