 The .36 flint I’m shooting has a 46” barrel and is incredibly accurate out to about 40 yards. When I shot Mike this year I shot 3, 5 shot rounds from 40 yards to warm up then dropped right down to 25 yds for the scoring round. After shooting the 40 yd rounds it almost makes the cup look like a beach ball from 25 yds. The key for me is not to take a break between the 40 yd and 25 yd rounds.

Paul, I've never taken any warm up shots with my Rayl barrel Ed made for me... I had Ed put a 1 in 72 twist in it along with .010 depth round bottom rifling... It's 7/8" x 36" long and I made it in caplock configuration (Large Siler Lock)...

I've fed this rifle 3fg, 2fg, and even 1fg, and it'll shoot them all without having to worry about swabbing (in fact, I've never swabbed between any shots with this rifle and that includes when using the 1fg load that I test ran (if I recall I took eleven straight shots with a 45 grain charge under a .018 patch and .395 ball. I truly believe I could have kept going without swabbing even after those 11 shots... I could never do that with my .40 cal Green Mnt Brl...

This was my "pre" Retirement rifle I made 14 or 15 years ago when we started the TMA... It's won its share of medals at State Shoot, but my ol' (Late) friend Jim Potter, he use to knock me down to a 2nd, or 3rd spot Medal finish with his .40 caliber (except on the 50 yard NMLRA Bear Target) at our State ML Shoot... I think the old .40 still has a little left in'er... I hope!!!  :shake

 Sounds like a super gun Joe. I don’t have the experience shooting competition like you but the 2 guns that seem to naturally fit me and I shoot the best are this .36 flinter built in the Southern Mountain style and believe it or not my .62 French Fusil smoothbore.

Okay, I was going to shoot the cu this morning but found I didn't have the target printed out or saved on my hard drive.  There seem to be TWO MF targets, MF-TC and MF-TC2.  It looks like the first is larger than the second and Paul shot the smaller one.  I will print that out and shoot it also so as not to have an advantage over him, although the instructions say to use MF-TC (the larger one).

Could we have a little clarification here?   :bigsmile:  Or do we shoot which ever one we feel like? ::) :o

Today is shot, tomorrow I stay home with my Sweetie, Sunday is Church, Monday the plumbing guys come to redo the sewer line... I may not get to shooting again until Thursday; :Doh!  I hope the Hodgepodge Rifle is up to the task!  :pray:

 I just printed one of each and it looks like they’re the same size to me. One has some shading but that’s the only difference I see?

I was looking at the .PDFs, the TC has the cup touch the top of the page while his chin touches the bottom, TC2 has 1/2" or so from the top of the page to the cup and an inch +/- between the chin and the bottom of the page.  Printer settings would make a difference on how they come out.

I'm probably making a mountain out of a molehill and no one is going to worry about it....  :Doh!  i hadn't even noticed the shading!  ;banghead;

MF-TC is what we usually use, but IMHO, I don't think it makes a lot of difference which one you use.

However, the Rules call for the MF-TC target - so use that target.

My MF-TC target [just as a reference], the backside of the cup top (at the top of the heavy line is about 3/8" from the top of the page).  :shake

That is fine Beaverman, I also teamed you with Sir Michael...

Remember, shoot only one target and your score of that one target will also be used /tallied with both your Partner's target's.  :shake

Hey guys, I’m thinking that if I shot the wrong Mike Fink target i should  shoot it over again. What do you think? Makes no difference to me.

Who told you that you shot the wrong target, Paul?

You shot the required target stated in the rules - so your score stands.  :shake

One thing one should keep in mind is that not all printers are equal in there 100% sizing... They are not like a copying machine...
