? when do you "Tune/Hone ? {as soon as you receive the firearm ?, After you have fired it a # of Xs ?

What Ironhand said.  I play with them, then see what needs to be done.  Of course I mostly buy used so much of the tuning has been done or I end up "detuning" to make the gun function safely again....

I will always fix a trigger before I fire the first shot.

I inspect the lock and triggers when I first get it, if needed it gets honed and polished, ask Puffer, he's been in my shop with a trigger and lock for his Baker, first thing we did was make a new trigger to change the geometry and make it a shorter, lighter trigger pull, then polished everything, worked a heck of a lot better then.

Well I tune mine as I go along in the build so when I get it finished I can take it to the Range and complete any tuning required as I sight in and get use to the new (or new to me) rifle.

You do need to know what you are doing. Even on a Chambers lock, I put in a couple hours fine tuning them when building a gun. The last rifle I built I used a Kibler lock, and it took the least amount of cleanup to be good.
