A horn

Found this treasure at the local antique store.
It's clean inside and only the tip was scraped and that little brass cap was added.
No idea where or when this came into existence but I thought it was too cool to pass up.

Not sure butler.  The tip moves but doesn't want to come out.

Kevin, I don't mean to insult.  Put it to tight lips and blow a raspberry into it. I think you might get a grin from the results. Ya "kiss" a wingbone and raspberry a horn.   :lol sign

Ok I'll give it a try tomorrow.
If it's a honker I might have to take up fox hunting .

Hmmm.  Not a blower it seems.
No opening in the brass knob. A small peg hole , I assume , on the side and it does twist , about a 1/4" left and right but try as I may it won't come off.
So maybe it's just a show horn.
Feels old ,  just wish I knew more about it.

does the peg look like it may have been broken off?  Possibly it was the removeable part?

That's my thoughts too.....
I don't know a lot about horns, but I do know such horns were used to call the dogs back in.
I like the horn, but like Kevin, I don't have a clue how to access that "hole" with the little peg.
It's the many things we don't do that totally sets us apart.

IMO, you have a brass tipped oxen horn.

The tips were added to a team's horns to protect the humans working with them.
