Self Nock Woodies Build
« on: April 15, 2021, 09:55:25 AM »
Nothing fancy, just some knock-about hunting-roving shafts.  11/32" Surewood fir, 55-60# spine, 28-1/4" length, Tru-Flight turk LW feathers, CA glue to adhere the nock inserts that were slotted with a Nifty Nocker, two thin coats of wipe-on polyU, Bohning tape and CA for fletching, 362 grains average weight with no point.  "Cresting" accomplished with a v/s electric drill, a "V" block, and Sharpie pens.

Very cool, Rob! I've never seen self nocks made that way before. Interesting.

My bows may have 'glass backing and facing, but my arrows are all wood, metal, and turk or goose feathers - no plastic there.  :)

Wow, that is slick!  I had to do a search for the Nifty Nocker; kind of spendy but sure worth it if a person makes a lot of arrows!  Thanks for posting something new for me to learn about!

Best price I've found for the Nifty Nocker is at Kustom King ...

Best of all is the side "stealth" quiver I built years ago.  It's the perfect quiver for me, for hunting, roving, or 3-D shoots.  All the benefits of a back quiver, with better moving in and around thickets and bushes without arrows hanging up on the flora, no "flagging" of the arrow retrieval hand motion as with a back quiver, silent moving as the string hand/arm can cradle the quiver and arrows, holds as many or few arrows as need be, a foam insert is added for broadheads.

Ok . I like that guiver. Seen lots of variations.
I've been wanting get my arrows off the bow but just can't find anything more convenient than a 4 arrow bow mounted quiver from EFA.
How does it ride with a back pack.

For the very most part, it's a side quiver, so nothing to get in the way of any size backpack.
