I just have a little viewing piece of it not far from my home in the small town of Crawford down in the White River Valley. I can see some of those Buttes from my front porch every morning when I have coffee.  :shake

Joe, You're a lucky man, my friend.
My arthritic back likes the weather in the area I am in.  Yesterday here it was 86 degrees.  But everything else about it, not so much.
And so it goes.

Thanks Jim, and yes; To me it's "A little slice of heaven" (and I think most folks feel the same around here).  :shake

Heck John, it's 71 here today, and 70's tomorrow.  :bl th up

But you're right John, we're going to get hit with winter, and it can get mighty cold sometimes with lots of snow. However, with our low humidity it can be pleasant as long as you realize you still have to guard against that cold or one might just find themselves with a case of frostbite.

That far butte to the right (The taller one behind the smaller one) is called "lovers leap" (there's an Indian legend behind that), and our Shooting Range (Northwest Nebraska Shooters) is not to far from that. In fact the butte behind me in the picture below is it.  :shake

Jim, your right. It's a little slice of heaven for sure.  :shake

Yep, I am pretty familiar with cold weather.  We did live in North Idaho for about 30 years and we were active snowmobilers for 20+ of those years.  Every year we ventured over to Yellowstone in January for a week.  A person could easily dress for -20 or so, but when it is -40 outside, it's best to have breakfast and a couple of extra cups of coffee before you set out for a ride.  Man, it gets mighty uncomfortable doing 70 mph in that kind of chill.  I guess one could easily only go 40 mph, but that isn't much fun on a freshly groomed trail.
I also remember going shooting in sub zero weather and having the spit lubed patch freeze at the muzzle and punch little cloth doughnuts when starting the ball down the bore.
Would I do either of those things now?  I don't think so.  But it was sure fun then.
John

John, I remember you telling me that back when I short started an old patched ball and it left a donut hole patch on top my muzzle...

Now I'm cold just thinking about them temperatures...  :laffing

Great for fast loads and not needing a patch knife.   :luff:

Well, after reading that, I'm  certainly  not going to complain about shooting a match in 20° to 30° weather anymore.

Lovely country, Joe!  Hey, wasn't that a musical group, "Country Joe and the Fish"?   :laffing

I don't know? I'll have to look them up. My wife says, I'm forgetful - so I might have been in that group? If I was, was I any good?  :laffing
