Exchanging Fire Re-enactors Ban
« on: February 05, 2023, 08:16:18 AM »
Now this is just getting ridiculous, and it's very serious; This effects the market for black powder usage, as well as the sport / hobby & history of Traditional Muzzle Loading.

Joe, I read that article yesterday and just shook my head. Our forefathers had the grit to hunt grizzlies and defend themselves against hostiles with single shot muzzleloaders. Their courage allowed our generation to become a reality. Their rifles, and the ones we use too, are monuments to them and are a part of our history. I hate to say it, but the sad truth is that we reap what we sow. We ought to ask ourselves if we can take a fraction of their strength and muster the courage to let our lawmakers know our feelings on topics like this. IMHO if we don't attend and voice our opinions at meetings, and write, or at a minimum, call our legislators on a regular basis, and in general make ourselves heard, we will soon find those smokepoles that we so love on a list of banned "weapons of war". The squeaky wheel still gets the grease.

From the article: "the shift away from simulated combat on federal land started in the early 1960s after people portraying Confederate and Union soldiers were injured at Gettysburg."

This is a continuation of what started way back when, bolstered by the present political atmosphere.  "Howard Pollman, a spokesman for the state commission, said it is working on guidelines that would require members of federally recognized tribes to portray tribal figures in re-enactments at its historic sites."  I suppose that if they can't find enough real Indians the production will have to stop.

Ridiculous!

WH - Not wanting to get into hot water by bringing politics into the forum, but . . . The fact is in today's world where a person can decide and declare their sex and their race and then "that's a fact, Jack," there won't be any shortage of native Americans.   :Doh!  ;banghead;

Hopefully the reenactments will continue on "State" or "Private Lands" regardless... Burying the past sure ain't going to change the past.

With any luck, New York and Pennsylvania will reverse these rules when they see how many tourist dollars and Non-profit donations they lose from this action.

It's sad, but there are some people too stupid to realize that. :(

I'm sure Elizabeth Warren could weigh in on that.

A further escalating sign of the woke times we all are enduring ... until we make a change for the better.

Thus a very big reason some of us enjoy re-enacting "periods of the past" so much,.... like the Revolutionary War, the American Fur Trade era, and the American Civil War. It takes us back to simpler times when things actually made sense and traditional muzzleloaders played a huge part in every-day lives.  :bl th up
