Canadian Wildfires

We're socked in with smoke from the Canadian Wildfires. I can't even see the Buttes a couple miles west of me. That's one huge fire up there in Canada!

I'm roughly 300 miles S-SE of Ohio Joe, in the Platte Valley.  A hilltop where I can usually see almost 8 miles, visibility is less than .7 miles.  It is rather disconcerting, but I was coughing so hard I didn't notice at the time!

I have to wonder if this (the visibility/air quality issues) are similar to what was seen back in the day when the locals fired the prairie in the spring to promote the growth of grass for the buffallo?

I hope those folks up in Canada can get the fires under control: lots of folks up there have their lives and livelihoods on the line.  I know some small businessmen in Alberta that are thinking about throwing in the towel and leaving.  Between taxes, Covid, and now this, they just aren't able to do business.

I'm 80 miles south of the Alberta - B.C. border, It's been pretty nasty here the past few days, with limited visibility, and smoke headaches.

I can finally see the Buttes along the Ridge west of me again this morning. I'm thankful for that! Hope it starts to clear up you folks way where you're getting the Canadian smoke from those fires up there.  :shake

Just sitting here watching the spokane news, those fires are intense.
We have guite a bit smoke as to be expected . I'm 70 ish miles from the BC border.
 92 fires raging up there.
Won't be long before our fire season cranks up .
