Getting ready to go the the Atascadero RDV tomorrow.  Going through my shooting bags to see how they are fairing.
Big disappointment for the .45 flinter.  No .440 or .445 ball.  And I had not cast any before.
Guess what I am going to do now?  First thing is to hope I have one of those size moulds.  Then I will heat up the pot.
Went through my powder supply and found cans of Fg, Ffg, Fffg and Ffffg.  I think I will try to sell some of those tomorrow.  What is left will go into the back of the truck and will go with me to the Rendezvous' we will be attending in May and June.  Hungry Horse, Coeur d'Alene, Moscow and Colfax.  I anticipate not bringing any home.
Now, what did I do with my percussion caps?
Darn, I sure do hate this last minute stuff.  But whose fault is it?  Me.

Ah John we've all been there.
The wife and I are driving to Michigan in a few days .
Amazed at all the things we don't have ready or need to do before we leave.
Just be happy you're at rdv .
Right after we get back from Michigan, I'm off to dark horse in Montana for memorial day rdv .
Then after that it's the great Coeur D' Alene muzzleloaders rdv
 Looking forward to seeing you.

Taking my son and nephew up to camp by fort Robinson after work.
Just 1 night, but should be a good time. We go back into the wilderness area called soldier creek. Some decent trout fishing and a lot of hiking to be had. Low of 30 tonight is all. So cold enough to notice but not be miserable..
They've been asking since January for a cold camp, and I didn't wanna have to pack camp at 1am to come home with cold boys 😂😆

I've been looking for a 3 speed bicycle like I had as a kid.  Found one on Ebay for relatively cheap, here in Ohio.  It's supposed to be here by the 12th. It will be interesting to see what it really is like; the photos showed that is in relatively good shape.  I'm not a fan of the derailleur gear system, the Sturmey-Archer inside the hub is much less fragile in my opinion.

Years ago (like decades ago, actually) I had a Bess.  I really liked it, but silly me, I let it go down the road.  If I still had all the guns I let go away, I would need a room to keep them in.

I also like big round balls, and the .735's for the Bess are not the biggest either.  I really got a kick (pardon the pun) out of the .980's I shot in the 4 bores.

Oh, and don't forget, the Brits expected one to be able to load and fire once every 13 seconds.  We would expect no less from you.  And you needed to have 4 teeth in the front of your mouth (to be able to bite the end off the paper cartridge.)

Enjoy!!

Big balls for me are .575 and larger.  I use that size along with .600 for the 20ga fowler and will use both .690 and .735 for this 2nd Land Bess, but mostly the .690 that will be used in paper cartridge builds.  I do paper cartridges for the fowler with the .575 ball and wrapped British style.
