Faux rope bed

Saw something similar on a Renaissance video from pennsic.
Thought it would compliment the wall tent.

Little memory foam and a few HBC blankets and I'll be good to go.

Getting to the age where sleeping on the ground is losing its appeal?  Me too.
I had to look twice to see your trick there.  Pretty sneaky rope trick.  I like it.
I assume that breaks down for transportation?
I can hardly wait so see what your camp kitchen is going to look like.
Keep up the good work.

If I have a persona, it's an old man who came outta the mountains and into the meadows.
I very much enjoy sleep in a bed.
Yes sir it breaks down. The rails are held in place by door hinges.
Pull the pins and pack it up.

In that second photo, it's kind of hard to tell if that is you taking a break from threading that rope through the sideboards or if that is a corpse laid out waiting for the funeral. :luff: :luff: :luff: :luff:

I've made one many years ago when I still had hair, but no plywood, used the rope all the way.  It worked okay with a foam camping pad but wasn't overly comfortable.  Better than lying on rocks, though.

I slept in a rope bed in a "Beach resort" in Malaysia. I was 27 years old at the time and I have kinks in my back to this day.
I'm  not  H/C or P/C or even a particularly  good shot but I have a hell of a good time!

When I made one, I neglected to think about using a mattress on it.  Or a plywood insert.
In sampling it before we went to RDV, we laid on it first to see how it was.
Just sleeping on the ropes, there was a real tendency for both of us to roll towards the middle.
Not conducive to a good night's sleep, but OK for other things I would imagine.
I just considered that a lesson in learning what you are doing before you do it.  :Doh!
Well, shucks, I never said I was the brightest light in the house.
It was good to have all that rope, however.  I guess I used the wood for other projects, but I sure don't recall what.
