Here is what I'm reading as of this week.. Lord Grizzly by Frederick Manfred.
Solid story on Hugh Glass and the happenings around his mauling, slow return and following revenge.  It's much better of a read than The Revenant was a watch.. I'm about 2/3 the way through and my body hurts from the descriptions of his wounds and crawling his way around.. the kids also appreciated dinner more when I told them of eating raw mice and alkaline water ..

The last few months I also have read;

The Old man and the boy

Sounds like a good read
 I wish I could sit down a read but it seems that I'm always distracted or have some other things to do.
 By the time I get to sit and relax I fall asleep with in the first few pages.
 I usually take a month to read a pamphlet. Ha.
 I'll look into a few of the books tho for sure

[Winter Hawk]

I just finished "The Long Walk", written by Slavomir Rawicz, a Polish guy who was arrested by the Russians at the start of WW2.  After a year of being interrogated and tortured, he was found guilty of being a spy and sentenced for 25 years at hard labor in a work camp in Siberia.  He and 6 others escaped (in the winter) and walked down to India with nothing but a knife and an axe, plus the clothes they had on.  Something around 4000 miles, including crossing the Gobi desert.  Along the way they were joined by a 17 year old girl who ran away from a work farm.  A fascinating book narrative written in, IIRC, 1968 and republished several times since.

I was moving some stuff around and came across several of my favorites.
Wild Beasts and their Ways by Samuel White Baker
The Sporting Rifle and its Projectiles by Lt James Forsythe
Michael Finnaughty, Elephant Hunter by same
And another one by John Taylor.
Of all the things I have lost, I think I miss my memory the most.
I got these books 25 or 30 years ago when I was investigating information on big bore rifles used in African and Indian hunting of large and dangerous game.
I did get a chuckle out of Michael Finnaughty in his book where he was talking about merging from the muzzleloading era to the cartridge era.  He begrudgingly went on a hunt using a 12 bore cartridge rifle and he said it kicked like nothing before, even his 4 bore muzzleloaders.  NOTE TO SELF:  Don't shoot one of those, it'll hurt you.
Other than that, I am reading a Michael Connelly book right now, The Waiting.  Pretty good crime drama.  And a John Grisham book, A Time for Mercy.
