Don't know why I'm doing this but I'm doing it. Was at Ft. Frederick on Friday. Seems as though there are fewer sutlers each year. And it seems as though the ones there, have less wares each year. Bought two 3/4x7/8 French amber flints and a handle for the tomahawk.

Sad to hear, most of the rendezvous I've been to have fewer vendors every year.
Hey but at least you went !
I don't go for the shopping persae but it's nice to buy a shirt or flints or maybe some powder which our friend Eric bought for 20$ a # at the recent Libby vous.
Hopefully this is just an ebb and the flow will come again.

Back in the 70's I used to go to a RDV in CA held at Rail Road Flats.  It grew into something just amazing, with Traders' Row extending the length of a meadow and curving around and following the bottom about half way around.  Traders were on both sides of the road.  I think we were allowed a 10 or 15' frontage.  In maybe 2010 or so, I decided it would be fun to go back.  IIRC, there were 7 traders there and maybe a couple of blankets laid out as well.
What was an ocean of canvas in the early days turned into something only seen as the trader's tents.  The participants were in campers, 5th wheel trailers and motorhomes.  It seemed to me that the major competition was to see which dish antennas could pull in the most channels. (sarcasm)
It was a sad time out.  I think we are all getting a lot older or have just died out.  Lots of the old timers are gathering at the big rendezvous in the sky, that's for sure.
Too bad, it was shinin' times and I am sure glad I was a part of it when it was something to behold.

RDV's in the west are going the way of the originals in the early 1800's!
