Now there is no question that flint and other types of "glassy" stones can be sharper than any scalpel. My question is: did the NDNs prefer shaving to remove any unwanted facial hair or did they pluck (which hurts, actually)? Europeans seemed to prefer either letting it grow or simply shaving.

from what i read and from family exsperiance , it was mostly plucking .
once you get used to it , it doesnt hurt as bad as you think

That is what I understand from history too capt - but I have tried it and it REALLY depends
on what part of your face and head you a plucking!

Waxing is plucking in modern terms

In the 18th century, trade lists abound with "Indian razors". These were coil springs used to pluck body hair. There are also mentions of simply dusting the fingers with ashes for a better grip...

Europeans preferred shaving. VERY few men (mostly those belonging to certain religious sects) wore beards at the time.

Wife unit did not mind shaving, the plucking or waxing however was fought extremely hard against. She preferred chemical removal. Hey whatever the results were great. [humor/off]
