Title: Northern Non-aggressors....
Post by: Riley/MN on December 01, 2014, 10:40:59 AM
My wife and I made a quick trip down to Nashville for the weekend. We wound up (just by chance) staying in Franklin, TN on the eve of the Battle of Franklin. We had to kill a little time so we took a tour of the Carter House, around which the battlefield lay (a recommendation by a local that noticed us checking out "things to do" while we had breakfast at IHOP - just by chance). Our tour guide was the grandson of one of those injured during the battle, and he presented the battle as the bloodiest five hours of the civil war. Very cool "just by chance" occurrence! (Oh, BTW - no one mistook me for General Hood)

I did not get too many pictures, but will try to get a couple posted up here as the day allows...

That place is incredible and very humbling, the family and I toured that two yrs ago. The " details" on the floor, the porch, the original paintings and most of all the story.

Riley, my mistake, I was thinking of the Carnton Plantation house on the south side of Nashville.
Looks like a nice site  :toast

Not a lot of Civil War stuff up here in MN, so it was cool to be able to see this. You definitely get the feel of the "hallowed ground" when the battle is laid out for you by the grandson of a survivor of the battle!
