I've always wondered what Hugh Glass looked like,..... and this is supposed to be him.

Kool!!

Unfortunately I doubt it's real since Glass died in 1833 and the first publicly announced photographic process, which required only minutes of exposure in the camera and produced clear, finely detailed results. It was commercially introduced in 1839, a date generally accepted as the birth year of practical photography.
Some of the folks online might recognize the type of photograph it is to get a better date.

I half expected that to be the case Chuck. :(

I imagine him looking tougher, but that can't always be judged by just looks.

That last picture resembles Two Steps Bateman, reputed to be of Hugh Glass lineage, tho Al carries a more refined mustachio!

I haven't seen the movie yet, waiting to get the video from the library. But I did check out the book from the library and just finished reading it. Now, I am waiting to see the movie, just to see what they did makeup wise on pretty boy Leonardo. Should be interesting.
I think the best scene in the book is about 1/2 - 5/8 of the way through it where Major Henry's men decide to fire off the cannon to celebrate New Year's Eve. Got a great laugh out of that.

I saw the movie and loved it although some didn't like it...women mostly....to violent. :x :x
-
I watched the movie and thought it was okay, though I would have preferred the "Lord Grizzly" book version. However, in this day and age I'll support just about any movie about the fur trade era if'n they want to make some more!

I thought the movie was very good and the grizzly attack made my hair stand on end; it looked so real. I wasn't bothered that liberties were taken with the truth; I mean, it was only a movie, after all.

loved the movie a good friend of mine made 3 knives for the movie.
